Improve your vision free of corrective eyewear, or with far less dependence upon them. Here at the optometry practice of Dr. Dawn Rakich, O.D., you can find out all you need to know about the laser eye surgery known as PRK. Come in for a consultation and examination. Find out if you’re a good candidate for the procedure, and make your decision about whether or not to move forward with it. All surgery, even when done with lasers, should not be decided upon until you acquire all of the necessary information and have your questions answered. That’s what our PRK doctor in San Antonio is here for.
Here’s how PRK works: your eye surgeon will use laser technology to reshape your corneas. It is through the cornea where light first enters the eye, after which it is directed to the retina. If light reaches the retina at or near the center, you will have normal vision. If it strikes more toward the front or back, or if the light is refracted unevenly, the result will be that you have less than optimal vision either up close, far away, or at all distances. With a reshaped cornea, there will be greater accuracy of light reaching the retina where you can expect the best possible vision. As part of your visit, our PRK doctor in San Antonio goes over your medical history, and discusses any possible issues that could disqualify you from being eligible for the procedure. PRK has a high rate of success and is associated with greater independence. You’ll be able to do so much more than you could before, and you’ll do those things better because of your sharper, clearer vision.
