Dr. Rakich is our expert optometrist who provides excellent comprehensive eye exams that include screening for many vision problems, including glaucoma. During the initial part of a complete eye exam, Dr. Rakich will check your eyes for any kind of refractive vision problem. If you are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism, it can be easily corrected with an eyeglass or contact lens prescription.

As part of San Antonio eye care, Dr. Rakich will provide screening for many different types of eye diseases and disorders including: glaucoma; cataracts; diabetic retinopathy; macular degeneration; diabetic retinopathy; and many other diseases of the retina, cornea, and macula. It is very important to have regularly scheduled eye testing for glaucoma, because glaucoma has no obvious symptoms in the early stages. However, glaucoma can begin to steal your sight even when it is just beginning to occur in your eyes. When diagnosed early, glaucoma can generally be easily treated and you will not have to experience any vision loss. However, if you do not come to our eye doctor for timely eye testing, the disease may not be diagnosed until it is in a later stage and vision has already been lost. Unfortunately, glaucoma treatment focus on preventing vision loss. There is no known treatment that is generally successful in restoring vision that has been already been lost to glaucoma. There are many eye diseases which can be prevented if found in the early stages, so it is extremely important to come in for regularly scheduled eye exams.
